KNOTT COUNTY CENTRAL PATRIOTS

LOGO/BRAND IDENTITY

Knott County Central High School reached out in need of a cohesive brand identity for their school. They were frustrated with having different sports programs using different logos and wanted something cohesive that could be used across all programs and departments.

They wanted their Patriot logo to be commanding, but not angry. A stern expression of confidence and poise. We settled on the initial sketch on the left and refined it down to the final mark.

The Power K has been a symbol of KCC for decades. We built off of lettermarks used in the past to create a unique and distinctive K. One that would be recognizable to both fans and opponents.

A solid wordmark is crucial to any brand, especially when it comes to athletics. There are many ways to go about it, but we chose a classic script direction to pay homage to the Declaration of Independence.

The administration of KCC wanted a vintage-style blackletter K to be used exclusively for baseball. The goal was to pay tribute to the traditional lettermarks in the sport while keeping it modern and relevant.
